How can I get my school email on droid incredible?

I’ve tried to add my email account to my Droid Incredible and I went to my college’s website for information on how to activate it on the phone and it gave me all the information saying it was imap and the server protocol and all of that. I type it all in and then when i hit next it tells me to check my username and password, but those are correct. is there another way to add my email account?
