I have the full game on my comp and a spawn on my friends we have a direct connection with cat5 and i can access his files and vice versa, but when i create a game he is unable to see it or connect to it. WTF!?!?!?

I am changing providers and just subscribed to Qwest DSL and Direct TV. I do not have phone service (all cell phones in the household). They are coming next week and I am supposed to have the DSL jack installed by the time they come out to install. I’m having technicians come out for the Direct TV, but I am trying to alleviate the $100 for the DSL tech to set up my DSL since they charge another $100 on top of that to wire the jack. I am looking for help to make sure I’m setting this up right. From reading online, it seems there are going to be two coaxial cable lines for the Direct TV that will come in and I need one dry loop line for my DSL.

Where my TV is located now, there was no phone jack anywhere nearby. I have since cut out a hole in the drywall so I can bring in cables from my crawl space, up through the wall, and attach them to the new modular plate and jacks. To make it look nice I want to use a three empty space modular plate with two coaxial jacks and one phone jack.

For the DSL: I bought CAT5e cable and am going to run a dry loop for the DSL from the NID to this area. I understand I attach only the blue wires (blue/white and solid blue) to the NID at one end. At the jack end, I’m not sure what to use exactly for these corresponding blue wires. Do I just put in a regular RJ-11 jack into the plate and attach them or is there a different jack to use since it’s a CAT5e cable?

For the Direct TV: I am getting DVR and it says that I need to have it connected to a phone line. I’ve never had DVR before and am not sure how it works. Are the technicians just going to put a filter on the DVR with a splitter and run both the DSL modem and the DVR through the dry loop line? Or would it be better / possible to attach another of the dry loop wires (the orange wires for example) to a second phone jack just for the DVR? This way there would be two phone jacks and two coaxial cables on the modular plate. I’m not sure if this would interfere with the DSL connection. I’ve read stuff online that makes me think I may not be able to run both the DVR and DSL on the dry loop without frequently dropping my internet signal. Any suggestions or help is much appreciated.

I currently connect using a cable modem with wireless router. The majority of my household uses laptops and thus require the wireless option, but I use a desktop and would like to connect directly through an ethernet cable. Is this possible? Or am I stuck with the wireless connection? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

my computer have internet access through ADSL and i have another one and i want to access the internet by connecting both of them by a direct connection i have two lan ports on my computer.and i got a lan port on the other one.

My Ethernet camera gets a Public IP from the ISP which can be directed with Dyn DNS, but What happen when this Public IP changes? Can I automaticaly get the new IP and see it from the mentioned DNS?

Please explain what this means – I have a desktop and dont want to buy a router but I will because I need to use this software. Any ideas of how I can fix the problem without purchasing a router?
Okay- got the router – hooked it up – its working and it is still saying that I am not passing the assessment due to a direct connection to the internet. what am i not doing?

anytime im connected with someone, they can connect with me but i cant connect with them. I checked all my preferences and i have no firewall so i dont get it? If i try to put a large picture onto the aim box the program closes on me. Ive removed AIM from the computer, then reinstalled it and it stil doesnt work. Ive tried using different versions still doesnt work.

It’s not my internet because when I lived at my dorm i was connected through a t3 connection and it still did that. Im on wireless now and i still get the problem.

I really need some help. If you could give me some advice it would be great. I have a Direct TV reciever, it runs to a Direct tv DVR and a plain Direct TV reciever upstairs that is combined with a TIVO series 2.

A year ago we purchased 5 Tivo 2′s so we could wirelessly pass Tivo’ed shows to 3 of our childrens rooms via wireless network. Only 2 rooms could be accessed at a time, we purchased 2 boosters – still no help. We then went local cable (COX) and set up the other rooms, but it became costly and we like NFL ticket.

So we decided to run CAT 5 through the entire house, and two of the kids rooms have Cat 5 but 1 has nothing, not even phone line.

We were told by TIVO that all could link wireless, we were also told if some are on CAT5 the one that wasn’t hooked up could then be accessed wirelessly – not so.

Now we have 5 TIVO’s not being used, 1 Direct TV dish, and wired CAT5 throughout the house.

We are about to hire a very experienced technical person to hook us up, but he needs to know what we want. He can run CAT5 and phone to the bedroom not working, but we don’t know if running DIRECT TV through all rooms with individual DTV boxes is the best or if we can somehow use our TIVO’s we spent so much money on? Any suggestions?

Our household recently got switched over to Direct tv.(supplied by our landlord) the line comes to our house through a multiplexer? to bring the satellite and cable Internet access on one line. The satellite receiver and TV are plugged into the same powerstrip. We’ve noticed a signal interference problem when certain electrical items turn on. Space heater, Dishwasher, microwave, spin cycle on the washer. I tried running an extension cord from an upstairs receptacle to power the direct tv transceiver. But it had no effect. I tried checking the signal strength of the satellite during the problem and found transponders # 4,12,20, and 28 would drop to 0 or close to it. We even switched out the transceiver with the landlord unit but the problem seem to be isolated to this house. Any suggestions on what to try next?

I’ve got a dual LNB dish feeding 3 directTV settop boxes.
(2 are DVRs with two coaxs each, and 1 single coax.)
I keep having problems loosing signal on one of the DVRs way
out in my Shop. I had an old Dish Network Dish (single lnb) still
hanging on the shop… and hooked up one line to it (re-angled the dish).. and get 98% signal. Can I hang up another single lnb and get the other coax line working… and not mess with the multiplexer switch in the house?
I can receive all my channels with the dish network dish hooked up.. and no coax hooked to line 2… I even watched a pay per view. I just get an annoying message that there is no sat signal on line 2. Why wouldn’t a second Dish dish or DirectTV dish work… so I can watch one channel… and DVR another?

i dont know what all these settings are for ppp on demand, ATM circuit identifier, ATM Encapsulation, Force Upstream MTU. ive been haveing to reset my 2wire alot mabye its junk? what can i do to make sure i have a good connection all the time?
