Alot of construction was going on with cranes, etc. I found out the new management of the apartment building has installed telecommunications and ‘ associated dunnage’ on the roof ( antennas, etc)

What could this be for?

I’ve got a ASUS A600 notebook & PC which has a linksys wlan card , a broadband connection on my pc which comes there by a cat5 cable , so how can i share the internet on my notebook ?
I’ve tried so many different solutions but still can not view any web page on my notebook
but now i can ping laptop wireless IPs on pc & also reserved ones , the problem just accords on internet , I cant buy a wireless router & i can’t us cable , wt can i do now ?

i want to automate my observatory but in doing so i will need several high speed connections (mainly usb 30′ away) to my computer, these are mainly usb for cameras. but also to open roof etc (the latter not being a problem) i have seen a 4 port usb to usb using an lan cable in between so it gets over the problem of usb cable range. so i was thinking of buying two of these units and using two cat6 cables and two 1gig effenet cards in the computer to overcombe the speed problem. does anybody have any knowledge of this sort of set up….answers on a postcard to…..lol. would be a great help as i have sorced all the automation equipment and software.

Looking for something rugged yet inexpensive. Serial port is optional, I have a USB to serial adapter

I don’t want a computer serving the devices, I want them to be available no matter what computer in my house is running. Just needs to be Ethernet and able to host many USB devices including printers, hard drives.

Why don’t people read? I don’t want a computer hosting the USB devices. I have Wifi and a wired network already. I jsut want to add to my existing network, a device like the one above, but the best one I can get.

I have a router, a laptop and a pc. I connect my laptop to router through wireless and my pc is connected via lan cable. How can I know how many devices are connected to my router by wireless technology? ( windows7 is installed)

For example..my cat5e cable is running through a modem and im looking to add it to another room to connect to pc and xbox 360. wireless modem not an option. also, i dont want to have to buy 2 50 foot cables just to connect the devices. I just want one 50 foot cable to connect to an adapter that will allow me to use 2 5 foot cat5e cables to connect to pc and xbox. Just looking for something like how telephone adapters split the phone like to make 2 jacks. Thanks.

Cicso Network Magic Pro is the best I have seen so far that will display all computers & devices that are connected to my network.

Are there any better softwares? Also, I have a wireless network.. how can I be sure that my network hasn’t been compromised?

As configuration items, all Cisco boxes fall under data yet there is a good amount configured or working as if they were voice. What difference can I stress to make them show only voice or only data accordingly?

I know you can buy routers that connect to PPPoEs wirelessly but you first have to connect them to the internet physically by an ethernet cord. I do not have that option. I only can connect to the internet wirelessly through PPPoE.

There is no confusion on my part. There is a wireless connection that I am only allowed to connect through PPPoE. The devices I want to use are not able to connect through PPPoE but do have options to connect to the internet wirelessly.
