Hi, my wireless router kept losing connection constantly so i got a switchbox (basically a router) to use instead. when i connect the laptop from the switchbox to the laptop with an ethernet cord i only get a local connection; and i need to have an internet conection.
Do i need to change settings on my laptop, or something else.. please help

I am trying to connect to xbox live through my laptop using a regular ethernet cord. I follow all kinds of different tutorials but it doesn’t work. I have tried bridging and using ics.do you need a crossover one for it to work?

What I mean is, will it work with an Ethernet cable to take the place of a USB cord.
No, I’m not trying to use it as an internet connection, I’m using it to access all of my Xbox files, etc, but will it work?

There is only 1 ethernet jack in the motorola modem, and that goes directly to my computer, but to use wifi, my router must be connected to the modem as well. I have a linksys router. Is there any other plug I could use to connect the two?

I have an Xbox 360 downstairs, and the ethernet cord they give you in the box is not long enough so i have purchased a longer one. I’m wondering if I can directly hook it into my linksys router by my computer. Or, does this need to be plugged into a wall ethernet cord. Because when I did this before (into the router) I could not connect do to a problem with the MTU.

Where can i get a splitter for my ethernet cable wire and another wire? The ethernet wire is for my 360 and to get on live if that helps.

do the length of an ethernet cord affect the speed of the connections? i just bought an ethernet cord (cat6) its about 3 feet long. for days and days an error message (local area connection, a network cable has been unplugged) keeps popping up every few seconds!!!!!! is it because of the length of the ethernet cord? if it’s not can u tell me whats wrong and how to fix it?!!! Here is the problem. I just got a new desktop, but the ethernet in my dorm room does not work. The wi-fi does, but the desktop does not have a wireless card.
