My work uses a satellite provider for Internet connectivity. The connection is crowded and slow.?
The company w/n increase the size of the data package, so I was wondering if there is any way to connect via CAT5 and wireless, then merge both connections to increase my internet speed? Thanks!
PC Expert needed. Some laptops connects to wi-fi but other is displaying limited or no connectivity?!?

i have looked and apparently the problem may have something to do with tcp/ip filtering. I have tried resarting router and laptop, and have made sure ip address is set automatically.
Verizon FiOS has “limited or no connectivity” with my Win XP machine (NVidia network card) – how to fix?
I use an eMachines desktop running Windows XP. It has worked fine until a few days ago. Nothing changed that I am aware of. Suddenly the wired network connection listed as “Local Area Connection” (my only connection to the net) failed and started showing up as “limited or no connectivity.”
The modem, router and cabling are fine as I was able to connect to the internet by plugging a laptop into the same cable and router. I have tried repairing the connection, disabling and re-enabling the network adapter, using IPCONFIG to flush the DNS cache and to renew the IP address, and using NETSH to reset the Winsock settings. But I’m no expert and don’t really understand these tools.
The point is, it’s a wired connection, the connection works fine with other computers, so I know the problem is in my desktop. The computer recognizes that the cable is plugged in, but can’t acquire an IP address. It always gets stuck on “acquiring network address.”
Any suggestions welcome. I’m getting desperate.
What setting should I look for in the BIOS to disable the built-in card? There seem to be three listed under “On-board devices” that are labelled “MAC LAN …”
Probably not coincidental – today I suddenly got a whole slew of disk errors (“delayed write failure”). I have a feeling there’s something really wrong with the system. The other thing it has been doing is unexpectedly and instantly powering down whenever I do something that involves the phone modem (like trying to send a fax). Very strange.
One other thing … I can’t get to local IP addresses either. Like, 192.168.0.1 should get me to my router, but instead I get “Firefox can’t establish a connection.”
keep getting limited or no connectivity?
My uncle bought a D Link wireless router to use. We set it up and it didnt work until we called the company and asked for detail instruction on how to get the wireless running. After all that trouble, the wireless works fine for about 3-4 days and it gives us the “limited or no connectivity” problem. Every time like that I have to reset the router, and after 2 weeks I have to reconfigure the DSL modemn and the wireless all over. I know this problem is unavoidable but is it necessary to happen this often? Its really annoying. Any idea how to fix this? I tried winsock reset and that did not work out so well. I’m using Vista Ultimate SP2 btw

Wireless Connectivity Lost??? (Adapter Problem)?
I have had a lot of problems with my wireless internet connection. With my Realtek LT8178B. i the whole point i set up a yahoo was to get this fixed. I have asked over 20 questions about it (FOR MORE INFORMATION INCLUDING IPCONFIG SEE MY QUESTIONS)
Problem:
Wireless Internet Connection disconnects to Limited Connectivity and/or drops all connections in my area. (about 5 local connections)
i have to restart my adapter (Fn + F10) to get my laptop connected again.
Information:
Laptop: Advent Laptop
O/S: Windows Vista Home Basic Service Pack 2
Wireless Card (Intergrated/Built In): Realtek RTL8187B Wireless 802.11b/g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network Adapter
Tryed:
EVERYTHING – Reset Winsock, Upgraded, Installed Latest Drivers, Unistalled Adapter, Reinstalled Adapter, Changed Settings, Changed Channels, Upgraded Routers Firmware & Software, Disabled IPV6, Restored (But vista wouldnt let me restore to when it started, because i didnt take much notice and this was well over 3 months ago)
, EVERYTHING!!!!
What i do to solve the problem in short term:
Disable Adapter And Enable It. It lasts at the maximum 20 Minutes (After a restart & No activity) Average 5 Minutes (After Renabling it) Minimum – 30 Seconds (After Re-enabling It WITH ALOT OF ACTIVITY)
I use 2 routers (1 at my mums, and 1 at my nans) and they both play up the same!!! THEY HAVE FULL SIGNAL 100% I HAVE MY LAPTOP BASICLY NEXT TO THE ROUTER.
I know its my ADAPTER, nothing else.
What can i do?
PLEASE DONT TELL ME TO TRY AND HOOK UP VIA EITHERNET, I CANT.
AND DONT ASK ABOUT Windows Zero Config BECAUSE ITS NOT IN Sevices.msc
ARHHRHHHHGGG

Network Problem No Connectivity?
Hi
I have a DSL Home network through Bellsouth; In the beginning I connected the modem to a wireless router to a computer; This computer is running Win XP SP2; I have a couple more desktops in the house but I had to buy wireless adapters to connect them to the network. I decided to run cable to every room in the house so I could have Network throughout the entire house and I moved the modem and router from my office to the basement; I checked the patch cables to every room and they are working. I checked them with a laptop.
My problem is the computer I had connected to the router and modem originally, I can’t get to acquire an IP address. I go to CMD IPCONFIG /ALL and I get this address:
IP Address 169.254.70.54
Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway 169.254.70.254
I guess this address is the default for the computer. I went to network connections and changed the ip address setting from automatic to manual but I got the same problem.
Also I reset netsh int ip reset reset.log and
netsh winsock reset catalog
but I got the same problem. Can anyone help me
Thanks a Lot

Thanks for your answer Matt.
The first thing I checked was the cable and it is working fine; my laptop connects just fine with it; This computer was originally connected to the router and modem but after I moved the router and the modem to the basement it just stopped connecting; I tired ipconfig renew, and also local area connection repair. One more thing though, I try to create a new network connection but the system does not create it. Could it be the problem and how can I fix it
Thanks

Internet connectivity Great! but no internet connection… (i need sum1 w/ great problem solving skills)?
Here we go. I have my home network set up with WPA2 encryption and Mac address filtering. Network setup is (Internet –> Cable Modem –> Linksys Router). I have 2 laptops connected wirelessly and a ps3. They all work great. Now my rooomate is borrowing a computer for the next month or so and the laptop connects GREAT. However, nothing will load. Things I’ve tried:
1. Connected the computer via a cat5e cable. Again, Great connection but no internet.
2. I can ping anything in the entire world by either domain name or ip address, 100% received.
3. Ive tried switching encryption to WEP.
4. Ive turned off encryption.
5. Ive turned off mac filtering.
6. Ive ran winsock.
7. Ive reinstalled both wireless and lan drivers.
8. I tried connecting to the internet thru a shared connection with another computer.
9. Static IP address.
10. Open port 80.
11. Disable UPnP.
12. Reset both router and modem.
13. Repaired connection.
Any other suggestions?
When I say I connected the computer with a cat5e cable, I mean I connected it to the router port. (the same way you would configure the router)
O yeah, I’ve also turned off all firewalls.
If I wanted to make a $200 phone call, I’ll call Dell.
The solution was a corrupted .dll file in symantec.
Modem will not recognize computer – Limited Connectivity
Hopefully someone on here will be able to enlighten me! I’ve spent the past two days trying to connect an inherited laptop to our wireless network. I’ve tried release/renew, setting up a static ip, winsock, making sure everything is enabled, resetting the modem, router, unplugging everything, etc, etc. Wireless card is functioning properly. I really feel like I’ve tried just about every option available besides the one that fixes it. The person I received this laptop from said she never had problems connecting to a network before. I can connect to the router fine, it’s just not allowing me to connect to the internet. There is no problem connecting with the desktop also hooked up to the router. I also get the limited connectivity even when doing a wired connection directly from my modem to laptop. What gives? I appreciate any suggestions to a step I may be skipping to alleviate this giant headache I’ve acquired! Thanks!
Just wanted to add it’s a Dell Inspiron 6000 and Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO router if that makes a difference.

Limited or No Connectivity?
This is so frustrating! I posted a question about it earlier, but the help I got, didn’t help.
My laptop wireless connection worked fine until last night…I noticed I couldn’t get online… “Limited or No Connectivity”. I plugged an ethernet cord straight into my laptop and got the same message. My friend walked me thru resetting the modem & the wireless router. Did I miss something, because nothing is helping! I thought maybe it was just at home, so I brought my laptop to work, but it is still doing it. I looked at the Dell website and someone suggested Winsock XP Fix. Has anyone used this? Should it help? Any other suggestions?
I tried that IP address he suggested (192.168.1.1) and it said it was already in use. I tried one my friend said to try earlier and it connected me, but Yahoo messenger wouldnt load, and neither would Firefox.
My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505 and the wireless card is a Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card.
“Limited or no Connectivity in Home Network”?
Here’s the deal:
I am trying to connect one computer to the internet through another with internet sharing. Both are running XP and i HAVE done this before, it seems that something is screwing up with the ip address. The set up is as follows: Computer one is connected to the internet through a cable modem (cable modem connects to the comp by USB) in “local area connection 3″ That connection works fine. The second computer is connected to the first by a crossover cable between their ethernet cards in “Local area connection 1″. For some reason, on both computers i get a “Limited or no connectivity” warning between these two computers. When i try to repair the connection on either computer it stops at “renewing IP address.” I have tried winsock fix on both computers and it didn’t help. Can someone please help me? I think if i can get that local area connection one to work, then i could share the internet connection with computer 2 no problem. Please leave detailed answers, thx.
In response to the first answer: I have done this before in the exact same set up and it has worked perfectly. There was no need to call the ISP. Also: I made the subnet mask on the second computer the same as the internet connection subnet mask on the first (and assigned the second computer a new IP address) and now the second computer displays that it is connected, but the first computer still says “limited or no connectivity” for LAC 1.
I did what the second response suggested and now the computers say they are connected to each other, yet still no internet connection is available on the second computer, even though i told the first computer to share internet connection. What is going on here?
Limited or low connectivity error?
I’m experiencing a limited or low connectivity error when trying to connect to the internet on my Dell Xps 400. I just freshly installed partitions and XP PRO to the system, and installed the modem and network drivers. What could be causing this? I happen to try netsh reset in command prompt as well as tried a tool to reset my winsock error….Any ideas? I am desperate to get this to work.
EDIT: Lan, apologies. Using comcast services with a Motorola SB5120 router
C / C++ Network programming problem… Using Winsock… Problem in connectivity… Plz help?
Hi
I am writing this hobby program which is a simple, my own chat program. I am using WINSOCK for that, as i am doing this on Windows platform (Linux users don’t hate me, Even i love Linux ).
All it does (or probably it has to do) is that it connects to the copy of same program on Port XXXXX (Any random port, which i would decide while finalizing, i am now trying with some random numbers). And communicate with each other.
Ok, now the problem statement….
I got a ADSL broadband connection with BCM96338 router @ my ISP.
I am not able to connect through internet to another computer running my program @ my friend’s house. I am using the external ip-address itself, not the internal ip-address.
Whenever my program try to connect, it fails miserably (I don’t think its programming error, because while testing by connecting to myself using 127.0.0.1, it passed the test).
I saw on internet that, ROUTERS act FIREWALLS (Damn !!! I didn’t really ask for it…) and hence people’s computers on otherside of router (Connecting to internet via these routers) don’t really possess true connectivity.
So people, what exactly should i do to make my program work…
Please ask me if you need more information…
Thanks in advance…
