okay, I’m at work and there are prob 10 computers connected through the network. I’m wanting to move a comp into an unused room to set up an office. I’ve plugged my comp up & went to the back to plug a Cat5e cable to some box, and I get internet connection, but it won’t connect to the program I need to access. It says NO CONNECTION. I am obviously missing something.
Okay, so I think I may have figured out how to do it, but now I notice the keyboard won’t work! I even took this one in there and it wouldn’t work on it. The lights lit up on the keyboard, but it won’t take anything I key in
I actually get an internet connection, that’s how I was able to tell the keyboard won’t work. I went to a few sites I had already been on in this room. It is only another room. Same building. I just checked, and it does say I’m connected to the local area network, so I guess my problem is with the actual program….
so forget the original question now! SORRY
now I need help with the keyboard!LOL

What is the difference between Broadband and internet connection

If you know the answer to this could you also explain how you worked the answer out as I want to learn how to do this

(I dont just want/expect the answer given to me without me having to actually do any work or learn anything!)

i have a cat 5e ethernet cable. Can i connect my desktop( win xp) to my laptop ( vista) without using a hub or router or anything other than cat5e.If so, how do i configure?

My laptop is connected through the internet through it’s own built-in wi-fi connection. The router is in my cousin’s room. If I connect an ethernet cable from my 20GB PS3 to my wireless laptop, will I be able to connect to the internet on my PS3? If not, any serious ideas?

I only have broadband at home, which I use on a computer that I bought more recently. I’d like to know if I could buy an adapter or something like that to enable my old PC to connect to the internet via a broadband connection to the internet.

I have some clients very far and i need to support their software from my place. Can I connect two remote computers via ADSL connection(BSNL Broadband).Or any less expensive solution to connect remotey using broadband connection. Only BSNL broad band connction i can use beacuse my clients avilable only bsnl broadband

Want to switch UK Broadband Supplier – understand I need to give my new supplier a MAC code in order to switch.

Is there a way to avoid like a day (maybe more) without access? I know what these companies are like and I need my Internet! Can I overlap (I would be prepared to pay two suppliers for one month). Not sure how it works – can I only be connected to one supplier at a time?

I travel extensively and my laptop is set up to use the wired connector for connecting to the internet. I have to use the wired connector for security reasons, not because I don’t have one.

The problem is some of the newer hotels are using In-room wireless connectivity and don’t have the option of connecting through a RJ-45 connector.

On my laptop, I lost connection to my security-enabled connection from my router. When I tried to reconnect, it just completely disappeared. I do see other people’s names and their networks but that’s because I live in an apartment building. I still have solid internet connection from my modem and on my desktop computer but can’t get any wireless connection.

I have a dell Inspiron 1100 and I’m trying to get an ethernet cord hooked into it. The over all purpose is to run Xbox LIVE using my laptop as a router. The only problem is, when i plug my ethernet cable into my laptop it can’t seem to recognize that there’s something plugged in and can’t connect. When i go to look at the LAN connection it says network cable unplugged, even when its obviously plugged in? How can i fix this?

I guess what I’m asking is, what is needed to set up your own connection to the Internet without affiliation with an established telecommunications company? What setup and infrastructure do these companies have that give them the ability to establish these connections and sell the right to use them to individuals? I know it is much easier for well-financed operations to do this because of the resources at their disposal, but if the connection was only needed over a small geographical area, is it possible for individuals to establish telecommunications without paying monthly dues to a large Internet provider?

I have observed that there is 1 joint in twisted pair cable that joins outer BSNL box to my router.Also a electric line cable is lying nearby the twisted pair cable.I want to know how does these factors affect my broadband connection of BSNL?

I got a huge bill from my ISP (BSNL – India) as usage charges for my ADSL broadband connection. The funny thing is, no one in my house was using internet during last month (the period of the bill) as the there was no telephone connection to my home. I carry around the laptop from which Internet is connected and I was away from home for almost a month.

I called to findout what happened and I got an answer saying that there wont be any misuse since the telephone number is binded to the broadband connection. Is it possible to do that? Does BSNL do that to prevent misuse?
