I have WD mybook world edition 1TB 100/1000 (NAS) and i am connecting it to my Netgear switch 100/1000 via normal ethernet cat6 cable.. IT IS REALLY REALLY SLOW in term of transfering files..it only reaches 5 MB/sec.. should i use a crossover cable instead?

i setup my router with security, my desktop is connect to my router wiredly since its not wireless. i try to connect my laptop to my router but it wont work, it does pick it up but it wont connect. so i try seting up my router with no security and it seems to work but i dont wont it to be unsecured( it is a wireless router and not a wired 1)( my desktop is connected to the router with a cat6 wire)

I have a 360 Elite, and I want to connect it to the internet using the included ethernet cable that came with it. I have an Arris Touchstone Telephony Modem connected to my desktop PC, for my internet, also I have 1 phone line connected to that modem. My Xbox ethernet cable is within reach to my modem, computer, and Xbox. I also have an additional EQ-660R ASDL router (not in use). Is there anyway I could connect to Xbox Live, using the above mentioned things?

Hi, I am buying my first laptop within the next few days and need to know what I need to do to get internet access from router at home, where to get and how to setup virus protection, firewalls and any additional security settings need to setup a new laptop. Any additional things I may need? Details will be listed below including laptop details, internet provider and router these details will include links to websites pretaining to the specific products listed…. My parents have a desktop computer with AT&T DSL internet service hooked up to a wireless router. Along with the desktop they have a laptop configured to get internet access from it. How do I hook up my laptop so I can have internet access on it the router?

I have a Wildblue internet dish.. with a linsky (sp?) router hooked up to my desktop (wired) and my laptop (wireless). Everything worked fine until recently.. The laptop has become much slower.
I think the router is causing the problem..
Are there “better” routers out there?
And if so.. which one is better than the Linsky (sp) I’m currently using?

My router is located at point A roughly 15 feet from the wall of which on the other side resides my tv/xbox 360 setup. How do I go about using my router’s wifi to another wifi device to direct connect via ethernet cat5? Can’t I just buy another router and use my FIOS router’s wifi to have internet connectivity to my XBOX 360?

Trying to connect a Phillips ethenet cable (cat5e) PNL1145 to Phillips RJ45 Flush mounted wall jack (PH69608). Problem is, I bought one that has screws that have correspond to 8 colors, White, Brown, Yellow, Green, Red, Black, Orange, Blue and my cat 5 cable is brown, orange, green, blue (with corresponding whites for each). My phone is normally connected with a cable from the wall into a Touchstone Telephony Modem TM402P, &Then an RJ-11 goes from there to the actual phone base. My Modem broke, but when I try to plug the phone base into the wall using an RJ-11, I don’t get a dial tone. How can I connect my phone?

I have a DSL Internet connection, which works fine. However, when I turn on my computer, I get also a dial-up connection box that reads >select the service you want to connect to< . When I click on the >cancel< button for this message, another box appears that reads >Connecting to Broadband Connection 2. Connecting to WAN miniport (PPPOE)< . Clicking on >cancel< yet again for this second box brings up a third box that reads >Cannot Connect to Broadband Connection 2. Error 815<.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of the annoying connection-box messages?

I just got my wii and immediately tried to set up my internet.

But i keep getting Error Code: 52230.

I have a wireless router, Linksys E1000.

And a Comcast Arris touchstone Telephony modem.

High speed internet by the way.

My ps3 and xbox 360 connects just fine so why wont my wii!?!

I have dhcp and auto connect set up on my router and wireless card. I’m actually using the internet on the computer with the wireless card but it says that I am not connected to the network. is there any other settings I have to change in my router so that I will connect? I am using a linksys wrt300n i believe. Thanks in advance!

Is there any benefit for me to have the computer to automatically disable the wireless connection when i plug in my hardwired ethernet cable?

Just a bit ago, I brought my laptop down to my lower level of my house, where my modem and wireless router are located. I was connected by ethernet through my Verizon DSL connection. (I usually get 100.0 mbps through this) I had to unplug to go back upstairs, and like usual, the “failed to connect” box showed up and had a box that asked if i would like to retry. Just out of curiosity, I clicked retry, and the broadband connection for my DSL went through. This time only at 10.0 mbps, but I was still getting through to the internet. No, I WAS NOT WORKING OFFLINE, and BOTH MY ROUTER AND MY LAPTOP’S WIRELESS WERE TURNED OFF. I worked through my broadband, amazed for about a day, and then I lost the connection, got the “failed to connect” box again, but this time when I clicked retry, it got hung up on the “Connecting through WAN (PPPoE)”. So, I went back downstairs, hooked my laptop up by cable again, and got connected. After about 5 minutes, I unplugged and tried again. It worked again, I was connecting wirelessly, through an ethernet broadband connection. I’ve been doing that for a while, but then all of a sudden, when I tried unplugging it after 5 minutes, it wouldnt connect. Now I’ve waited a couple of days and I haven’t taken out the ethernet plug, and it still won’t connect when I take it out.

Is this just a rare occurance, or maybe a miracle ??
But, if this isn’t something never heard of, is there anyway I can go back to what I was doing, connecting for 5 minutes, and then unplugging and still connecting?

on my PC i have to connect to the wireless (through linksys router) then connect to sbc global. the mac registers that its connected to the wireless, but how do i connect to sbc global? ive tried going in, and ive gotten to the point where i put in my username and password in the pppoe, and it says its connecting, but then an error message comes up saying no PPPoe has been found.
or how to i configure my linksys router to already be connected to sbc global (like its SUPPOSED to be)
