VLAN configuration: Separate VoIP and Workstation & Wiring prerequisites?
The question is simple: How many wire drops will I need for each station at my company?
I am upgrading our CORE network and separating printer/VoIP/workstation/Server into their own VLAN. The problem is we have only one CAT5e outlet for each station. The current set up is CAT5e hits the VoIP device, then feeds the network to the workstation thus only needing a single outlet for ethernet.
So if I want to upgrade using layer-3 switch and use the existing wiring, is this possible? I am not sure if layer-3 switches can detect multiple devices and assign a VLAN of what IS detected per port or if I need a separate port per VLAN device (ie: one cable for VoIP and one for the workstation). Is there any possiblity to use a single wire to achieve this?
***Note: I will have a Juniper-based switch
**Note2: The VoIP phones are 3com
*I just want to know if the possibility exists technology-wise which Cisco can apparently.
Thank you all for your help!

Our company is about to upgrade to V7, from V4. We recently had a big problem and I realised how little I knew about it all. I need to learn about the architecture involved, how CM itself works regarding gateways, lists, hunts, all that shit, and the protocols that talk between to the voice routers.

configuration of a router?
the laptop is connected via wireless connection to our router.
the laptop is downloading torrent movies, i viewed the packets and it revieves a lot.
while my pc, recieves only 1 packet, and sometimes doesnt,
does those downloads affect the speed of my pc’s internet?
shouldnt it be that the router equally divides the connection to 2? thats what i heard,
but why is it that the laptop is using up most of my connection?
did i configure the router wrong? or did i miss configuring something?
cause i was thinking that the wireless connection is configured differently than the manual.
PC is using XP service pack 2, laptop is using XP service pack 3.
shouldnt it be that the PC should be the one faster than the laptop?
since i am the one connected directly to the router. ??
which one should i use, DHCP Client? PPPoE? should i use MAC clone?
and i dont know what those are, so i am using DHCP CLient.
i am able to connect to the internet though.
my prob is why i am recieving less packets than the laptop
while the pc is connected directly to the router.
How do I get to my router’s configuration screen, after setting it up as a switch and wireless access point?
The main network is using a router wired through the building,
in one room I connected my DI-624 wireless router to the wall – and two computers wired to the router, one wireless to the router. This worked fine for internet, but I couldn’t access the main network (just computers attached to the DI-624 network).
So I disabled DHCP (turning the router into a switch I guess). Works great, all computers (even wireless – after some tweaking) connect to both the internet and main network.
BUT, now I cannot get to the DI-624 CONFIGURATION. I have tried all sorts of IP addresses, looked at the default gateway (tried that address), just can’t get back to it?
I’m in not stressing too much because it works, but I can’t change any settings anymore?

There may be a problem with your domain name server(DNS)
configuration. Windows failed to find the well known

TCPIP Configuration Utility Demo
Microchip offers a free licensed TCP/IP stack optimized for the PIC18, PIC24, dsPIC and PIC32 microcontroller families. As shown in figure 2, the stack is divided into multiple layers, where each layer accesses services from one or more layers directly below it. Per specifications, many of the TCP/IP layers are “live”, in the sense that they not only act when a service is requested, but also when events like time-out or new packet arrival occurs.
