How to connect 2 computers using just one Ethernet Cord?
I have two computers right next to each other on this desk and I want them both to be able to connect on the internet for games and other reasons but I only have one cord running to the computer I am on right now. I was wondering if there was an attachment or adjustment to make it to where the Ethernet Cord can go to both of the computers instead of just the one I am on now…Is this possible or do I have to run another wire all the way to this computer?

how to share internet connection on two computers using CAT5 cross over cable?
I have a cat5 cross-over cable which I have been using for sharing printer and files/folders. And also somehow I once did shared the internet connection on both the computers with this same CAT5 cross-over cable but now when I need it I don’t know how to do it. I think I’m doing what i did last time (few months back).
I’m doing the following:
connected both the computer via Cross over cable.
the internet is on host computer and I was to share it with client computer also. so I specified IP address for Host computer 192.168.0.1 subnet mask 255.255.255.0
and client computer 192.168.0.2 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.0.1
and after doing the above configurations I was successfully able to share files and printer.
now to share the internet connection I connected the internet and put it on sharing and now restarted both the computers to take effect. (I also checked the firewall settings) but cannot share the internet but file and printer sharing is fine.

Can a virus infect different computers connected to the same router?
Brothers computer got hacked, he basically lost his yahoo/gmail/facebook accounts. His running a malware scan so that should be cleared up. However, whatever malware or virus that got his computer, can it infect other computers that are connected to the same router my brothers laptop uses? I mean ya, a malware program can come from anywhere, but can it spread through a router like that?
Is it possible to have my T-mobile Broadband work on two computers at the same time?
I know that when you’re using the broadband on one computer, then another computer can’t be using it, but do you think there’s another way that I can get two computers to use one broadband at the same time? Somebody told me that I can possibly try using a router, but is it true? Please help. Thanks!

How do I make my wireless router work for both computers?
The desktop connects through the internet through a cable modem. The computer only has one port in the back. I’m trying to hook up the wireless router I just bought. So I can have an internet connection for both the desktop and the notebook.
The problem is there is only one port and when I hook up the router the desktop has no internet and I don’t think it even sends the signal out to the notebook anyway.
I tried using the wireless router for both and that didn’t work either. I just plugged it in like the cable modem. Is there anything I’m doing wrong? How can i get internet for both?
Right now internet is much to slow for the notebook because it’s using a wireless card.
How do I add computers to a router’s network so that the internet will work?
I recently got a new router. I am able to connect to the internet using my laptop and my xbox 360. I am able to access the network set up using my brother’s laptop and our family desktop computer, but they aren’t able to access the internet. How do I make it so everything can connect?
How do I create a lan between my two xp computers using only my standard cat5e cable?
I’m trying to create a lan between my two computers. I dont have a crossover cable and prefer not to go out to buy one. My laptop has the Nvidea Nforce networking card, and the desktop has an nvidea card, but all i remember of what it has (since its not where I am right now) is the capability to do a gigabit lan. all the suggestions i have encountered suggest using a crossover cable, which as i said, I’d rather not go get. (money is really tight right now.) A friend suggested that my networking card may automatically crossover the signal for me, but I have no way of knowing till i can update the information. What steps would i need to take in order to get the lan started and effective enough that data can be sent/recieved, particularly for gaming purposes?
And as another thought, I’m wanting steps on how to configure it people. I can connect them and get a message on both computers saying the network has an error. I’m trying to get steps so that way i wont get that message. When i do get that message, no data is being shared between the computers.
Only the laptop has a wireless networking card. This is why I mentioned the question specifically to using a standard cat5e (aka ethernet) cable.

I currently have a cat 5 cable between the card and the ADSL model. I recently got married and we swap the cable between the 2 machines when either of us need access to the net. If we go for wireless can we both be on simultaneously ?
Anyone know of a good Ethernet device to plug in USB devices to the network for use by the computers?
I don’t want a computer serving the devices, I want them to be available no matter what computer in my house is running. Just needs to be Ethernet and able to host many USB devices including printers, hard drives.
Those of you saying its not possible think of a print server! You can plug in a USB printer and access it from any computer. There are products that allow what I am asking, I just want the best one. For example: http://www.keyspan.com:16080/land/?gclid=CKTlosrtp44CFRcbWAodv3KIYQ
Why don’t people read? I don’t want a computer hosting the USB devices. I have Wifi and a wired network already. I jsut want to add to my existing network, a device like the one above, but the best one I can get.
Heres another: http://www.macmall.com/macmall/shop/detail.asp?dpno=7133740&Redir=1&description=Silex%20Technology-SX-2000U2%20Hi-Speed%20USB%20Device%20Server-Media%20Converters%20&%20Transcievers
Why are my computers not detecting my xbox 360 when I try to connect them via ethernet?
I am trying to run xbox live through one of my two laptops (I have done it hundreds of times before) and each time I try to connect and bridge them, the laptop doesn’t pick up the ethernet crossover. It says “Network Cable Unplugged”
I have tried restarting, repairing the network driver, and the cable is fine because it works when directly plugged into the router.
What do I do? And I am using vista if that helps.
