Does your router hang too when you have too many clients running?
I’ve noticed that when I have several clients such as eMule running overnight, come morning the router will have hung itself and I have to reboot it to get access to the internet.
Is this normal, or do I have a crap router?
Thanks.
How can I get a Windows 2000 server to properly configure its clients to see specific gateway?
I have a Windows 2000 server connected to a hub. I also have about 20 Windows XP machines (clients) connected to this hub as well. I also have a Netgear firewall, which is connected to both a cable modem and the hub.
The Win 2000 server has IP 10.100.100.1, and the Netgear firewall has IP 10.100.100.141.
Right now, what I’m doing is going to each client and configuring the Default Gateway entry manually. What I’d LIKE to do is have the client’s IP settings set to “Obtain IP Addresses Automatically” and have the Netgear’s IP address come up automatically.
I’m assuming this can be done on the Windows 2000 server, as it’s the DHCP server on the network, but I have no idea how to do it.
Could someone give me a step-by-step on how to do it?
Also, is this the best way to get my network to have internet access? Right now, each client loses internet access about every 10 mins, which a “repair” will fix, but it happens so regularly that it’s getting to be disruptive. Tnx for hlp!
DHCP Clients list unknown?
I have recently logged in to my router and clicked on clients list.
I saw there names and IP of people I don’t know under the DHCP tab.
I can delete them but I don’t know what does it mean, do they have access to my internet? should I delete those unknown DHCP clients?
So I don’t need to delete those DHCP unknown clients?

Are there any non-outlook email clients which can connect to an exchange mailbox? Not imap and not imap-4?
I have a need to “pop” my mail from one exchange server (email box) and send it somewhere else. The admins do not allow IMAP connections to these boxes, so it has to really be an “exchange connection”.
Right now I have to leave an outlook client opened to pull the mail off. Is there another client which can do this?
Or perhaps a perl library for working with exchange servers?
Anything which will return control to me?

Is there a fix for Windows XP TCP/IP limit of 10 maximum connections: i.e. can there be more than 10 clients?
I am using Windows XP professional and I have a network of 12 computers. I’m using one computer essentially as the “server” for a MSSQL database with other computers on the network accessing the data from it.
Any computer past the initial 10 computers that tries to access a program (that uses the MSSQL database in question) gets rejected, bounced, with the error message:
“\\server is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. No more connections can be made to this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections that the computer can accept.”
I have already looked at this supposed patch: http://www.lvllord.de/ (Update of TCPIP.SYS), but I can’t get it to work, i.e. raise the number of computer connections allowable under Windows XP professional. Some chat sites seem to imply that this is a feasible item, please tell me if so.
Thanks
