Hi, I am having problem in dhcp distrubution with windows 2003, client ip will change automitically.?

Anyone know how to setup an Access point and a Wireless Client so it can grab dhcp?

There seems to be some problems in my setup of a wifi access point, can any of you lend a hand with a conflict that is keeping the receiving end of my network from aquiring addresses via DHCP?

I have a house with cable modem, I attached a router w/dhcp for my home network, the router’s LAN IP is 10.1.10.1.

I then decided to buy a couple of antennas and send the signal to another house of mine about 1/2 mile away. I bought an Alcon AP/Wireless Bridge/Repeater and hooked up a sweet antenna in my first house.

Then I grabbed a different Alcon antenna/AP/wireless bridge/repeater/wireless client for the second house.

I have the first alcon device set to be an Access Point so I can use wifi all around my house. It has a static ip set 10.1.10.66

The ‘receiving’ Alcon is set to be a wireless client, it’s IP is set to 10.1.10.67.

At the second house I have the Alcon connecting to a switch which feeds a few computers. None of these computers can get a DHCP ip address. If I manually assign IP’s in the range that House 1′s router is familiar with then they work no problem. For instance 10.1.10.241 statically set on a pc in home 2 will connect and work on the internet just fine. However when I put it to DHCP, it does the 169.254 IP address, meaning it can’t get one.

I have checked my DHCP router and confirmed that I have enough DHCP client spaces available.

Any ideas out there? You guys have surprised me before with some random requests so I figured I woudl try.

I have a rough network map posted on my website http://thecomputerace.com/cc/wireless.PNG

Is there a way to check the dhcp static ip range from a win2k client in a NT4 domain network?

what I mean is using any third party utility from a win2k client without physically going to the NT4 server to check out the dhcp reservation
