How fast speeds do cat5e cables give?
I am planning on buying a belkin one that is 15m:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000121XZI/ref=ox_ya_os_product
Is it a good quality cable? I heard Belkin are a good brand so I hope it is…
My service provider Sky say up to 20mb wirelessly, can I expect similar speeds through the cable?
If not how fast can I expect, and are there better quality cables? Links would be appreciated.
Would Cat5e Wall Jack work with a Cat5 cables?
Soon I will have a wired home network. Wireless would be easier, but I I am low on cash and want the full potential of my internet. I have pre-wired most of my home with a Cat 5 cables, I just need a router and ethernet wall jacks. So far I understand Bestbuy does not longer sell them ( I checked at the store) and was told RadioShack sells them ( I havent checked there yet). I found Cat 5e wall jack or port faceplate, on tigerdirect.com. (Why tigerdirect because its cheaper than it was at bestbuy, which is $4 more per wall jack. I dont know the price for them at radioshack.) I was wondering if anyone could tell me if Cat 5e wall jacks will work with Cat 5 cables. So there is no problem between the too. I just wanted to ask before I bought them, and find out it possibly doesnt work.
Thanks
Cat5 Networking Cable’s Wrapped, effects?
Good day answerers,
I bought this 20Meter Cat5 (ethernet) cable
But i will no need the full length of the cable. I will used this cable daily.
My questions is, if the cable is wrapped up in a coil (as if i wrapped it around a 2L coke bottle) will it affect my inteernet speed/ transfer of data?
I remember hearing about resistance, and electromagnets when cords are wrapped like this.
Is it bad to have it wrapped up? ( I want it wrapped up so it can be out of the way in my home)
Decyphering the tags on network cables?
I am upgrading to gigabit ethernet, which requires Cat5e or Cat6 cable.
However, the markings on my cables are causing confusion.
According to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category_5_cable:
- Cat 5 uses TIA/EIA-568-A
- Cat 5e uses TIA/EIA-568-B
However, I have cables that are marked as:
Cat 5e using TIA/EIA 568-A, which is the cat5 standard
Cat 5 using TIA/EIA 568-B, which is the Cat5e standard
I also have cables that “match” – Marked as Cat 5 using A, and 5e using B.
Which of these cables will support gigabit ethernet well?
Also, some of the cables read Cat.5 (with the decimal between cat and 5), and I don’t know if the decimal means anything.
http://www.diablocable.com has the best deal for fiber cables & cat5e cables. does radio shack sell these?

Complex cat5 cables questions (3 different questions, all related)?
1.We are doing a temporary internet fix, and it is very complex to explain in writing, so I made a picture. Tell me if what is proposed is possible. I’m sorry is it is too confusing, I did the best I could. Feel free to email me with any questions. http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/6940/internetplan.jpg
2. In the place where all our cat5 cables terminate, we have a LOT of cables. Is there a way to tell which cable leads where with minimal hassle, and preferably without trial-and-error? Cause there really are a lot of possible combinations.
3. Is it simple for a person with little electrical skill and no helper to set up two or three cat5 jacks?
I’m sorry for any inconvenience and the possible complexity of the first question. Once again, feel free to email me with any questions.
Is there any way to run 2 ethernet cables into 1 to make a stronger connection?
I am able to play xbox live, but it lags too bad. Each ethernet jack is probably metered and I have two ethernet jacks in my room I could use. Is there anyway to use both connections with one cable and make my xbox connection that much better? My school’s internet is terrible. Thanks!
If it’s a “no” then why not?
Fiber Optic network cables?
We want to switch from cat6 rj network cables to fiber optic network cables.
I have researched a little,but want advise.
We are running 5 computers off a 8 port broardband router(cable modem)
Would fiber optic cables speed up the other computers that are 25′-60′ away?Over the cat6 cables?
Well two of the other people are commenting on slow downloading of pages. My computer is on a 3′ cable and I have no problems with speed of loading.
We were curious if the fiber optic cables are faster than the standard cat6 cables?
Would the speed increase on the computer further away from the router?
We are on Comcast cable modem.
Do you need three ethernet cables to connect to xbox live using a router?

Can I get multiple CAT 5 connection in another part of a building without running multiple cables?

Gigabit ethernet cables and patch cables?
Hi. I will be getting a wireless router which has Gigabit ethernet ports. I want to get a cable to connect the router to my computer which has full gigabit capabilities. I have been looking around and I have found RJ45 CAT6 Patch cables. I read that CAT6 has gigabit capabilities, but what is a CAT6 patch cable? Is it what I want, bearing in mind that I am a gamer, so i need the best speed.
Thanks
Yes, but the router is wireless, so I can get a better internet speed and connection with other wireless devices on my network.

How do I make a socket to plug in ethernet cables?
I have an XBOX 360, but no ethernet plug near it. However, there is a blue ?Cat5? cable sticking out of the wall. My mom thinks it should be a plug, but it is broken like this: =======<. It is just a cable with wires coming out. I am wondering if maybe I could fix it or if I can hire someone to fix it.
Whats screws/nails do I need to work around cables outside my home? (electrical)?
I have internet connection at my home and I’m planning to split a wired connection using one modem. I will be using a 50 feet cat5 cable outside my home running it against the walls however, what screws will hold the cable in place without damaging or stressing the wire?
Thanks, I have the picture of the screw or nail with a white plastic holder to support the wire but I can’t think of its name..
