I have a D-Link DIR-615 router and I want ot create another wireless network that uses a WEP key instead of a WPA2. Help please?

the computer connected now is using a usb modem and i have a router to hook up the other one. i took cat5 ethernet wires and connected the router to the browser, then i connected the router to the other computer, but i still cant get access to the internet. do i have to change some settings on the other computer or something.
the connection is high speed cable and im trying to get it so that both computers will have internet, but someone told me i couldnt do that.

Well the way my house is setup with our router we can’t rewire any cables. I was just wondering if I could take a cat5 cable and connect it into the secondary internet port on the computer I am on now and connect it to the other computer I’m trying to get internet access to. Would it work?
I don’t need any answers about using a wifi adapter. I already know of this and have wifi. Please answer the question even though it looks like a no.

i got a new mac book and i want to put my itunes on it from my desk top. I only have an ethernet cord and i don’t want to send everything from my other computer-only my music. when i follow the instructions under migration assistant the closes i can get is all applications.

I have a computer that uses a modem and I want to connect another computer in the same house with a wire router. How can I do this? I don’t want to pay for another modem because then Cox will double my monthly payment.

I am in the process of moving some of my work computers to another building, and I am in need of some networking advice (all wired btw, not wireless).

Here is my setup so far and what I have to work with:
In the main house I have the cable modem and a single router (standard 4 port Linksys). From the house to the shop I have a single 150ft Cat6 cable (straight, not crossover). As this cable has already been run I need to be able to make it work from it. I need to hook up 4 computers in the shop, and I’m not quite sure the way to go here.

From what I’ve read I think I can use a router or a switch in the shop (if switch it will need an uplink port because of the cable not being crossover). I’m wondering which is the best way to go for performance, as each of the four computers will be moving a lot of data (within the network, and also on the internet).

Any help is much appreciated. Thank You.

I have a Cisco wireless router connected to the internet and one PC which I also use for my laptop. I have a PC hooked up to a Belkin wireless router with no internet connection. Is there a way to have the Belkin connect to get internet from my Cisco router to get internet?

Can you transfer files from one computer to another through the ethernet cord? If not, besides copying to a disk, how can you do it?

using a crossover(CAT5)cable will be inconvientant considering the fact that the second computer is about half a mile away, so wireless is the only way. is there a way i can do this without paying so much. =)

I was looking for maybe a flat multi CAT5 cable or a sigle cable then when I get to where I want it I will run individual cables to there destinations.
Can I connect from Switch to switch though?

Is it possible to connect a cat5 cable going from our router into a cat5 cable going into the wall, then connect THAT cat5 into another cat5 going to another room, then connect that to another cat5 and finally into my computer? (Total: 4 wires. Don’t ask my why it has to be like this, is just does).

4. What is the effect of age on cat5 cables (for example, some of the wire that will be used is 14 years old and has been living in our walls for that time).

I’m sorry for all of the questions. I’m trying to connect my computer to my router and get the absolute best speeds possible. Please, don’t suggest any alternatives at this time, for now I must use the 4 wires method, if it works.

my computer have internet access through ADSL and i have another one and i want to access the internet by connecting both of them by a direct connection i have two lan ports on my computer.and i got a lan port on the other one.

I would like to run an ethernet wire from my playstation down to the router i am using downstairs so that i am not feeding wirelessly (because it is too slow that way.) Im wondering about how much money it will cost for the cable company to run a wire from my bedroom upstairs to my router downstairs?

I have a dlink router(model 624). Have a cat 5e cable going from the router to a spare computer in the basement, now I want to add another computer on the same cat5e for internet on both PCs. It is a short 50′ run. Question-which will give me a faster internet connection-an rj45 cable sharing/splitting kit or just running another cat5e from the back of the router to the basement so each PC has its own cat5e? I have a usb Verizon mobile broadband modem plugged into my Mac Mini. Internet works great but I’d like to share it wireless with my laptop. I picked up an Airport Express but it only seems to understand cable/dsl through an Ethernet cable. Do I need a different device or can this work?
