If I add a wired router to my my wireless router, how does that affect file sharing?
I have a wireless Linksys 54G router. I have three gaming computers that I would like send hard lines to. I would like to just add one ethernet wire to another wire only router in that room and then hook these three up to the secondary router.

Does moisture cause tarnish on phone copper wires and affect phone service (but not ADSL)?
I experienced loud crackling noise on my phone. Phone company repair man came out and tested good to my 8th floor junction box, but not to my 8th floor apartment. He said there were 4 pairs of wires available. He previously jumped from Pair #1 to #2 on similar complaint. Now he is jumping from #2 to #3. I have one last pair left. He suggested moisture and water in wire conduits causing copper to rust, then, when lit up, rust turns to “copper tarnish” which degrades signal. But while my phone stopped working (no dialing in and out), ADSL for Internet access still works. Do I really need to pull out old wiring as he suggested or is there another simpler remedy? Also, if there are bridge taps (wires branched out to various other rooms in the apartment), do I need to look for a junction box in my wall before pulling the wires out?

Does a broken ADSL/Phone cable connecting the router to the phoneline affect connection?
I currently have a Netgear DG834G and the orange light is constantly on the blink and I can get no connection or set up a wireless network. The only problem I can see is that the ADSL/Phone Cable’s plastic thing that normally clicks into the modem is broken – does this affect the connectivity of my modem hence I can’t get on the internet?? Any ideas?? I’m wondering if it’s my modem or the cable. Thanks in advance for the help!!!!
My internet has constantly been on the blink but I have not touched the modem yet sometimes it works and sometimes doesn’t work – even with the broken clicky bit on the cable, can it connect on and off as it wishes? SOrry to sound stupid but I just thought that it wouldn’t work …
