Does a WAP assign IP addresses or does it still use a DHCP Server to assign the IP address?
At my work we have a modem/router that is our DHCP server. We also have a WAP, which is secured. We have about 25 computers. Our range is 10.1.10.50-10.1.10.199 for our DHCP pool. We are getting IP address conflicts on random addresses and are not sure why. We have a WAP also, which is used by about 2 people a day.
If you have any suggestions on why we’d be getting conflicts, or simply if you can answer if a WAP assigns IP addresses. It is a WAP NOT a wireless router, I know the difference.
In the configuration for the WAP there is no option to assign a DHCP range or anything so that’s why I don’t believe a WAP assigns IP addresses.
Hook me up with a source if you have it too.
Yep, I know about the IP /renew, and it does work, but they still pop up which shouldn’t happen on a network with so few IP addresses, maybe 30 total including servers and printers. My servers and printers are static assigned, and are not in the DHCP pool.
So to confirm, a WAP does not assign IP addresses to any computers that are accessing that, so therefore can not be a source of conflicts?
Also all computers are Win XP
How to check if my router banned certain IP addresses I always access?
I suddenly can’t access my websites I always access. I’m not very sure what recent changes I’ve made on my computer but I really can’t access my websites but others can access them and I can access them through a proxy site. Reasons why I think the problem is on my router is that, I have two PCs in our house, the other one was recently reformatted, but both can’t access these websites.
So how to check if my router banned certain IP addresses I always access?
