How to completely disable DHCP in an Advnced Server 2000 Active Directory Domain Controler?
This is a P2P network behind a Pix 506. The PIX is running DHCP and a VPN to sister location. Switching to the domain, I am not able to get DHCP to release. On my test login computer, I can login to the P2P (DC Not Connected) and get an IP with no problem. I can also do a release/renew with no problem. When I plug the DC in and do a release/renew, I get a message that the system is trying to use an IP address that is already in use. When I unplug the DC and renew, it renews back to the P2P with no problem. The DC originally had DHCP installed for some testing purposes, but it is now removed. Anyone have an idea what is going on or what I need to do? Thanks in advance.

PPPOE Connection is active but there is no internet Connectivity?
This PPPOE connection does requires username and password. This connection authenticates (hand shake and all) and logs in just fine at 100 kpbs. But when the IE 7.0 browser is open, there is not actual connectivity. That famous “This page can not be display message” occurs. I open the computer and the network card is attached to the motherboard so I could not try the take out and put back trick.
I already did the usual check. Using a second computer with a similar configuration I was able to ascertain that, The cable is good, the Modem works fine and there is nothing wrong with my PPPOE settings.
So… Next I tried to repair the winsox and the Rebuild the TCP/IP Stack. I even tried using one of those “WinsockXPFix” utilities…. But nothing seem to work. I even redid the PPPOE from scratch but again it only conects but there is not actual Internet connectivity.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreaciated. Again.. this same set up works fine on a different computer.
