Where can I go (physically, not online) to learn about the stock market?

I have a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications and I love working with television, but I would like to do some stock trading on the side. I am more than willing to work hard at learning this. But would any schools let me take courses based on having a bachelor’s in a different field? I am not talking about obtaining another bachelor’s degree, but rather a few courses. Thank you.

Ethernet cable question – not very savvy about this?

I need someone with good knowledge of Ethernet cables to give the green light to buy this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cat5e-RJ45-Ethernet-Network-Cable/dp/B000IAJHQ0/ref=pd_bbs_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1204309817&sr=8-3

Will this type of cable work with my Belkin Wireless G-Plus router? I mean, if I connect my PC directly to the router using this ethernet cable, I and everyone else connected to the router will be able to connect to the internet with no problems? I need to ask this because upon searching for cables I discovered there are different types like “crossover” and such.

Other recommendations are welcome also.

Thanks very much
Tony

Should the IT guy learn about telecommunications?

Question about Passive PoE (Power over ethernet) – WRT54G + Biquad dish & Question about AMPs?

Hi,

Im planning on building a biquad dish along with a wrt54g router mounted outside and powered by Passive PoE.

Im wondering, with passive PoE, if i input 12V, will the device receive the full 12v over lets say 10 metres of RJ45 Cat5e Patch cable? Can i use RJ45 Cat5e patch cable without a problem? If not what type of ethernet network cable would you recommend?

Also, while im here, if the router requires 1AMP, if i install a 80mm fan which requires 0.09AMPs, do i need a power adapter/cable which will povide 1.09amps or will 1amp be fine?

O, about amps, what kind of amps can Passive PoE carry?

Thanks
-David

What can i do about this intermediate algebra?

I am working towards a degree in telecommunications, I am doing generals, and am getting very discouraged as i am doing only intermediate algebra, (1010), but cannot seem to be able to grasp the concepts portrayed in some of the chapters dealing with solving an equation with rational expressions. This is only intermediate algebra, and my degree requires at least collage algebra…. Am i just not made out for the collage thing? Am I DOOMED to fail?
Any one else been through this that was having a hard time?

What should I make a short documentray about?

Money question about Amazon.com?

I bought a 100 ft Cat5 Cat5e RJ45 Patch ethernet cable, 2 wireless xbox 360 controllers, and 2 rechargeable battery packs for the controllers. I ordered all this for like $75. Now the price regularly should be like $125+. So is it too good to be true or did I make a good deal?

How do i share wireless internet with a cottage about 50 yards away?

My girlfriend works on a farm where she is trying to receive internet from the main house. The main house has a home wireless netgear router, but the signal is degraded and virtually unusable in the cottage she’ll be staying in. I’ve been looking into wireless access points, but I’ve found it hard to find range specs for them and i’m not sure how i would configure them with the current configuration. Maybe take the current netgear wireelss offline, connect the access point to mimic the previous settings? But i’m still not sure what access point to purchase. THe cottage is 50-70 yrds away and running physical cat5/cat6 cable is out of the question. Im an IT Tech, so i have some experience with low-level networking.

Thanks!

How should I go about getting a new router?

I’m getting a new desktop in a couple of weeks, and I want to get a new (wireless) router to accompany it.
1. Do I get the router from Verizon, or from a store like Best Buy?
2. When I hook up my new computer, would I just install the router myself, or would I need to call up Verizon for assistance?

BONUS: What router would you recommend, considering it will be used by one desktop and one laptop?

Thanks everyone!

Question about CAT5 wiring?

I’ve had two of my CAT5 lines suddenly start misbehaving. They’ve worked fine for years. Both the lines are in one room and, now, neither one of them will hold a stable connection to my switch when I attempt to connect via my mini-tower PC. It connects and drops every few seconds.

Here are the weird details, though:

(1) I have swapped out the network card. No dice.

(2) When connected to any other drop in the house (about six locations), it connects just fine. I’ve even left the PC in place and strung a 20ft cable to another drop; it works just fine.

(3) I have two laptop PCs, they both connect to the two drops just fine.

(4) I’ve tried every combination of patch cables under the sun. No dice.

The only thing that I have * not * done is to re-punch the connections both at the face plate and on the patch panel. I figured if they worked for the laptops, they should work for anything else.

Could something in a laptop network card be more forgiving?

I also know that twisted pairs need to retain their original twist as much as possible in order to maintain a stable connection. But, the original network card was 10mbps (hardly blazing speed) and one of the laptops is 100mbps. Why would the 100 work and the 10 not work?

Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.
Sorry. I didn’t want to bog down the initial question with a bunch of stuff. The original network card in the minitower was a 10 mbps. It was replaced with a brand-new 100 mbps card. I then swapped it back and forth again in my troubleshooting. When I found it worked on another drop, I just left the 100 mbps one in there.

The switch is brand-new as well. Matter of fact, that’s when the trouble started. I had a ratty, old Synoptics hub that worked just peachy, but was 10 mbps and as loud as a jet. The new switch is quiet. I even temporarily swapped it back out for the hub and * still * the two original drops would not work.
I’ve replaced the cables between the pc and the wall and the patch panel and the swtich.

A few questions about copper and recycling it.?

I have some copper wire and cable and was wanting to know the classification the fall under. The cable is cat6. Its not the skinnier cat6, it has some paper around it. the outer one is white then its the silver one followed by the twisted pairs. then i have come co-ax and 18-2 (is the only was i know it by, all i know its the power to security cameras. then the wire is.. well its different gages of wire but its actual wire that comes if different colors for the electricians. just let me know the classification it falls under. when i called the scrap yard she asked me if i had insulated wire or… well i cant remember the other word so i just said insulated. lol. anyways the other question i have is when is the best time to recycle my wire to get the biggest bang for my buck! i just finished looking at the charts for the price of copper and it was at its lowest at the beginning of the year does it start like that every year? please help i have all this cable and wire stacked up and i wanted to scrap it before xmas to have some extra xmas money but if i should wait til the beginning of the year to get alot more i figured i would wait. HELP
is copper expected to rise soon? the other day i called the scrap yard and she told me 98 cent- to 1.98 for wire. and now she said 21 cents-1.12 how did drop so much?

what should i do about, Fast Internet?

so i have a Belkin N wireless Router, and i am probably going to buy a Belkin N usb 2.0 Receiver to get around 300mbps or 250mbps… right now i have a non-cat6 (so like cat5 or cat5e or something) cable, so i only get 100mbps and a cord running across my room to the wall where that runs to the back of the router…my Desktop PC is 30ft from the router. My main question is would it be better to re-wire with cat6, or lay down 50$ (its really $80 receiver i found it cheap used) for faster internet???

about network.in house my adsl modem connect to other pc and my laptop connecting to the home network and i?
