How much money is it to buy a new wireless router or a new modem?

I wonder if it work for my PC, since it’s from 2003. Buying a new is what I mean.

I live just outside of town and need a fast internet provider other than satellite. So broadband is my choice. I can not get dsl, obviously. I’ve checked site but can not fin any providers in the “buffalo area” (apparently were i live) Can someone help in any way?

Sometimes when i’m online I leave my broadband box on even when i’m not using it. I could be gone to the shop or doing another chore when I remember I left it on. Am I using bandwith even when i’m not using it?

I am currently pursuing a Masters in Information Systems. I currently have a BAS in Technology Management and an AAS in Computer Networking. Right now, I work at a small private school, obtaining grants, researching new programs, working with parents & students, and fundraising. I got this job after staying home for three years and being out of the industry for 7. (I used to be a IT Manager for small telecommunications company that went bust in 2001). I really want to get back in IT (especially for the $) and I want to make sure that the education that I am getting will be marketable. I just don’t know what types of jobs to go for. Since i can’t use 2 router, I’m planning to convert my D-link into a Switch so that i can maximize the speed. How do i do this? (Currently manually configure the WAN to assign the IP address and DNS gateway for the D-link router)
Im currently using d-link 524, so there’s no simple option to just click and magic happen.
and i would still need enough ports for 4 computers.

All the other computers in the house work, but when I connect my wireless it works for a few minutes very slowly but then turns off the broadband and then I cannot connect it for hours! Please help xx

We have a router at home that gives all our laptops wireless. The desktop is not close to the modem, is it possible to use another router to connect wirelessly. I didnt want to spend the money on a wireless card. Help!
