IP Ban question?

If I use PPPoA with a dynamic external IP address, can I still get IP banned from websites?

Why would you be getting yourself banned anyway? Surely you should be working on just not getting yourself banned….if your being banned then it’s probably for a dam good reason!

Yes if the site bans user depending on other technologies not only ip address

  • DAVID S:

if your dynamic IP gets banned rebooting will pick up a new address. Typically bans are time based so they eventually age out.

I suggest you concentrate on not getting banned. It normally means you are doing something wrong.

The problem with the other answers is sometimes when you reset your modem you’ll still end up with the same IP. Not to mention some sites will ban an enitre IP range i.e. if you’re IP is: 129.195.932.392 they might have it set to ban 129.195.932.0 to 129.195.932.999 (so resetting the modem might not yield a positive response)

Just save yourself the aggravation and use a proxy server to get into it.

The easiest way is to visit this site:
    http://proxy.org/cgi_proxies.shtml

In the top left of the screen put in the URL (web address) that you want to use the proxy for, and it’ll automatically proxy you.

If you’d rather just have permanent proxies set up, I’ve included a list below of where you can get free ones.

    In Firefox: tools>options>advanced>network>connection settings>manual proxy configuration>enter proxies

    In Internet Explorer: tools>internet options>connections>lan settings>enter proxy

then if you get IP banned, just put in another proxy.
