The sure fire way to correct this problem is to download winsock.dll from one of the many, many sites you can go to (Google search: free download winsock.dll). Go to windows explorer and find the .dll file in c:windowssystem, move the file to another directory. Replace it with the new file you downloaded in c:windowssystem. Reboot everything should be fine, if so go back to the directory you moved the old file to and delete it.
